Rosalyn “Ros” Gold-Onwude, Basketball Analyst

Turning her passion into a career, Rosalyn Gold-Onwude has stepped foot where few women of color have gone before. From Ros’ athletic career to her professional one, she has a history of many firsts. She is the first athlete from her high school to play Division I basketball, at Stanford University no less, where she became the all-time leader in steals and assists and Ros Gold-Onwude You INSPIRE Us! The second all-time leading scorer, she was named Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year as a senior, and was later inducted into the GCHSAA Hall of Fame, another first for an athlete from her high school. She has set a precedent as a basketball analyst who brings expert critiques and interviews as well as effortless style and confidence to her reports for ESPN, Pac-12 Network, the WNBA and most famously in the Bay Area, the Golden State Warriors on CSN and the San Francisco 49ers.

A few inspiring words from Ros “As a woman of color in sports broadcasting, I want to do good work and have a positive, visible influence […] I hope other young women will look at what I’m doing and realize they too could have a career in sports media if they desire.”

Carli Anne Lloyd (born July 16, 1982) is an American professional soccer midfielder who currently plays for Houston Dash in the National Women’s Soccer League and the United States Women’s National Soccer Team. The USA’s attacking midfielder possesses some rare qualities in her ability to beat players on the dribble and to strike on goal from distance. As fit as she’s ever been, Lloyd is an integral player in the USA’s attack. She scored the winning goal in the 2008 Olympic Gold Medal in overtime to beat Brazil and scored the only two goals in the 2012 Olympic Gold Medal Game vs Japan. Carli scored a spectacular hat-trick in the final game of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2015 leading the USA team to the gold. With over eighty goals, Lloyd is the highest scoring midfielder in history for the US Women’s National Team. Carli amazes us with her accomplishments:

  • Two-time Olympic gold medalist
  • FIFA Women’s World Cup Champion 2015
  • FIFA Women’s Player of the Year 2015

Carli is a great athlete, great role model, and great woman. During an interview, Carli was asked to describe herself using five words. She answered: I’m dedicated, relentless, motivated, hardworking, and committed. These qualities are Carli’s keys to success.
