Dr. Shida Tan is a Principal Engineer at Intel Corporation with expertise in novel charged particle beam technologies, optical spectroscopy, microscopy techniques, and nano-materials. Shida currently leads pathfinding projects in gas field ionization source technology and its applications in circuit edit, low yield analysis, failure analysis, and fault isolation. Shida’s responsibilities also include overseeing collaborative initiatives with academic and industry partners in the field. Shida has been with Intel for 14 years, she has previously led projects on optical probing techniques, carbon nanotubes, and silicon photonics.

Shida received her Ph.D. in Material Science with a minor in Electrical Engineering from Auburn University in 2002 and B.S. degree from Tsinghua University in 1997. She has 9 issued and 3 pending US patents, 3 Intel Trade Secrets, 1 invited book chapter, and over 60 peer-reviewed publications. Shida has active leadership roles in several academia-industry conferences in her field, including steering committee member, technical program chair, session chair, abstract reviewer, and speaker.

Shida is also active in industry and academia research oversight bodies and women in technology initiatives. Shida is a founding organizer of the Women in Nanotechnology event at the EIPBN conference and served as a panelist in the Professional Business Women of California STEM Career panel. She is a proposal review board member for the Lawrence Berkeley National Labs Molecular Foundry.
